Terms & Conditions
Hooghan Inns Ltd., trading as Meldrums Hotel (hereafter “We”, “Our” and/or “Us”), accept any and all payments in:
- Bankers’ Automated Clearing Services (BACS);
- Business Cheques;
- Clearing House Automated Payment System (CHAPS);
- Credit and/or Debit Card, such as American Express™, MasterCard™ and/or Visa™; and
- Vouchers authorised by and issued by Hooghan Inns Ltd. and any and all subsidiaries.
We no longer accept personal cheques.
There is no charge for payments made using a Credit or Debit Card.
Please note that any vouchers authorised by and issued by Hooghan Inns Ltd. and any and all subsidiaries cannot be exchanged for cash and are non-refundable.
2. Room Prices
Room prices, as advertised, are levied per room per night and are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT). Breakfast is included in the price advertised.
All other meals must be paid for separately.
We reserve the right to review our room prices from time to time. Provisional and/or Registered Guests (hereafter “You”, “Your”, “Guest(s)” and /or “the Customer(s)”) will be charged the room price quoted at the time of reservation. Please note that quoted room prices at any establishment owned or operated by Hooghan Inns Ltd. may change up to the date of arrival.
A room is reserved until 8pm (2000 hours) on the date of arrival.
You may reserve your room in advance by providing your Credit and/or Debit Card details at the time of reservation. A deposit of 50% of the total value of your reservation will be charged and processed to the said Credit and/or Debit Card. This will normally occur before 9am (0900 hours) the following day. A booking reference will be given and must be retained as proof of reservation.
Alternatively, Guests may paying for a reservation in full in advance of any arrival.
Payment can be made using one of the accepted forms of payment as enumerated and listed above.
Any Credit and/or Debit Card that is used to secure a booking must have an expiry date that is valid throughout the duration of any prospective stay.
Cancellation of a room reservation must be made before 1pm (1300 hours). The cancellation must be received no later than 48 hours before the date of arrival unless stated otherwise in any Terms & Conditions specific to your reservation.
4.1 Reservations with Deposits
If you cancel a room reservation before 1pm (1300 hours) 48 hours before the date of arrival and you have paid a deposit for the room by Credit and/or Debit Card, a full refund of the said deposit will be processed to the same Credit and/or Debit Card. This will normally occur before 9am (0900 hours) the following day. A cancellation reference will be give and must be retained as proof of cancellation.
If you cancel a room reservation after 1pm, which is less than 48 hours before the date of arrival, and have not already paid for the room in advance you will be charged for one nights’ accommodation per room booked. A cancellation reference will be given and must be retained as proof of cancellation and charge. The Customer will be issued with a receipt for this charge. The charge will normally occur before 9am (0900 hours) the following day.
4.2 Prepaid Reservations (Standard Rate)
If you cancel a room reservation before 1pm (1300 hours) 48 hours before the date of arrival and you have paid for the room in advance by Credit and/or Debit Card, a full refund will be processed to the same Credit and/or Debit Card. This will normally occur before 9am (0900 hours) the following day. A cancellation reference will be give and must be retained as proof of cancellation.
Failure of the Customer to cancel prior to 1pm (1300 hours), which is less than 48 hours before the date of arrival, gives Hooghan Inns Ltd. the right to charge for one night’s accommodation per room booked. The Customer will be issued with a receipt for this charge. The payment will normally be processed before 9am (0900 hours) the following day.
4.3 Alterations & Changes
If you decide to shorten your stay and depart early, you must inform us by 12pm (1200 hours) the day before your new date of departure. For example, if you reserved a room for 5 (five) nights from Monday you would depart on Saturday morning if you stayed for the duration of your original reservation. However, you have decided to leave on Friday. You must notify us no later than 12 pm (1200 hours) on Thursday that you intend to leave early. Failure to do so will incur a charge of one night’s accommodation per room booked.
Bookings made after 1pm (1300 hours) on the date of arrival are non-refundable and are subject to or standard cancellation terms.
5. Arrival & Departure
Rooms are available from 2pm (1400 hours) on the date of arrival. The room is reserved until 8pm (2000 hours) on the date of arrival.
If you wish to arrive later than 8pm (2000 hours) please notify us in advance.
Your room must be vacated by 11am (1100 hours) on the date of departure. Failure to leave your room by this hour will result in a charge of £10 per hour per room thereafter.
Individuals and Groups with Authorised and Registered shooting parties must vacate their rooms by 12pm (1200 hours) on the date of departure. Failure to leave your room by this hour will result in a charge of £10 per hour per room thereafter.
We have a strict No Smoking policy. We ask that any and all Guests adhere to this.
In the event that any and all Guests fail to adhere to the stated policy, any and all costs associated with the cleaning, reinstatement and/or replacement of any fittings, fixtures and/or furniture due to smoking will be passed on to the aforementioned Guests.
Breakfast is served in the Restaurant between 8am (0800 hours) and 9am (0900 hours). Should breakfast be required outwith of these hours guests must notify Meldrums Hotel and its management no later than 48 hours beforehand.
This establishment, Meldrums Hotel, is pet-friendly.
Those Guests that wish to dine with their pets, however, are required to dine in the Tarvit Bar.
9. Electrical Appliances
Electrical appliances – such as mini- and/or portable cookers and/or toasters – are prohibited. They must not be used in the rooms as they may set off the fire alarms.
10. Behaviour & Noise
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards noise and, in particular, any parties held within the confines of Meldrums Hotel and its grounds that are nor Authorised and Recognised in advance. A party is defined, for the purposes of these Terms & Conditions, as any situation:
- In which the number of guests within a room exceeds the maximum advised for said room at the time of booking;
- In which the noise level from a room disturbs guests in an adjoining room;
- Whereby excessive pedestrian traffic to and/or from a room is identified; and/or
- Where it is deemed that excessive alcohol consumption, intoxication, and noise is present.
In the event that any guest is identified as hosting a party that conforms to the definition above, Hooghan Inns Ltd. reserves the right to request that all occupants of the said room(s) up to, and including, any and all Registered Guests vacate both the room(s) and the environs of Meldrums Hotel with immediate effect. In the event that an eviction does occur, the Registered Guest shall be charged, in full, for the residual duration of their stay and for any expenses that may or may not be incurred as a result of:
- Any and/or all additional cleaning of the room(s);
- Reinstatement and/or replacement of any fittings, fixtures and furniture due to breakage; and
- Repair and/or restoration of any fittings, fixtures and furniture due to damage as may be deemed appropriate.
11. Damage & Liability
The use of any and all facilities and services within and outwith the environs of Meldrums Hotel is at the absolute discretion of the Proprietors. We will ensure that all facilities and services are in good working order.
Any and all facilities and services provided that we provide are used at the entire and whole risk of the Guest(s). The Proprietors bear no liability for accidents and/or injuries howsoever caused.
Any and all damage to equipment, facilities and/or services that results in a subsequent, though undetermined, interruption to the provision of facilities and/or services must be paid for by the Guest(s).
In addition, the Proprietors and Hooghan Inns Ltd. bear no liability and/or responsibility whatsoever for any damage and/or loss to the possessions and/or property of any and all Guests.
12. Access & Security
Meldrums Hotel is not a 24 hour establishment. To guarantee the safety and well-being of our Guests the doors are locked 15 (fifteen) minutes after last orders at the Tarvit Bar.
- From Sunday to Wednesday, last orders are 11pm (2300 hours). The doors will be locked at 11.15pm (2315 hours).
- On Thursdays, last orders are Midnight (0000 hours). The doors will be locked at 12.15am (0015 hours).
- On Fridays and Saturdays, last orders are 1am (0100 hours). The doors will be lock at 1.15am (0115 hours).
Any Guests arriving at or returning to Meldrums Hotel outwith of these hours will be refused access.
Should Guests require access outwith of these hours, a key may be made available.
13. Alterations & Changes to Terms & Conditions
Hooghan Inns Ltd. and any and all subsidiaries reserve the right to make changes to these Terms & Conditions at any point in time and without prior notification and/or warning.
