This is the Kingdom of Fife. What more needs to be said? It is the ambition of every golfer to play on the Old Course at St Andrews and, as the Royal and Ancient Golf Club sits on public land, golfers of every calibre (or not) receive a warm welcome.
The soaring popularity of golf and the subsequent expansion of the Links – which included the laying of the New and the Jubilee in the 1890s – fuelled the development of courses throughout Fife. These courses, frequently used for championship qualifying – are within easy reach of Meldrums and include:
- St Andrews
- Cupar Golf Club
- Ladybank Golf Club
- Lundin Links Golf Club
- Scotscraig Golf Club
For an authentic experience, guests may wish to visit the Kingarrock Hickory Golf at Hill of Tarvit. Established in 1904, it is the oldest 9-hole golf course in the United Kingdom and uses traditional hickory-shaft clubs.
